In Loving Memory of Luna
(Luna, Lu, Lunar, El Jefe, Big Tuna)
Luna came into this world with a story already in motion. After being surrendered, she found her way into the care of Adopt a Husky MN, where she was given a second chance through the kindness of her foster humans, Chuck and Kollin. It did not take long for fate to step in and connect her with her forever family.
When Luna met Kyja, Cory, and Evo, something unmistakable clicked into place. Two things became clear within the first few wonderful minutes: Luna was a soul dog and she had found her people. She arrived in her human's lives as Luna Lovegood; she lived up to that name from the very beginning. She brought light, warmth, and a sense of wonder into every corner of the lives she touched.
Luna was loving, happy, and resilient. She was a spirit that carried both softness and spark in the ways she moved through the world. She was “happy chaos” in its purest form: the kind that made life fuller and more vibrant. She greeted each day as if it were an invitation to adventure, from exploring the shores of Lake Superior to simply jumping into the car with eager anticipation. Luna modeled a way of living that called-forth joy from those who were priviliged to be in her orbit.
She had her quirks and they only made her more unforgettable. Watchful eyes might catch her hiding her beloved Beanie Babies in carefully chosen piles as if tucking away priceless treasures. Equal to the triumph of hiding prizes, she applied her mischievous deceptive skills by sneaking off to places only known to her with something irresistible; several packages of Hawaiian Rolls were claimed as hers after vanishing from the kitchen counter. She welcomed early mornings with her signature “ah-woo,” and she did so with a kindness to her people. Her vocal declaration of the day's joys ahead often arrived well before the rest of the world was ready.
Luna's intuition and cleverness made her truly extraordinary. She understood the emotional landscape of her home, and offered gentleness when it was needed most. When her humans were hurting, she softened. When joy filled the room, she amplified it. She played to her audience regardless of species; with her fur brothers, love looked like movement, speed, and play. She knew to express love through wrestling matches and joyful chases when friends of her size wanted to play. Yet, people called-forth presence more than play: she knew exactly when to stay close and when to give space. She did not just share in life. She shaped it.
Luna was preceded in death by her brother Evo and is lovingly remembered by her devoted family, including her mom, dad, nana, papa, auntie Bans, uncle Raptor, cousins Taytum and Kylen, her fur brother Cal, and cousin Cyrus. Whether on a hiking trail or in a quiet moment at home, Luna had a rare gift for making people feel lighter, happier, and more alive simply by being near her.
Luna was not just part of the journey. She was the light that made every step feel like the best day.
